Ask any member of KICK to name what kind of show we enjoy performing the most and our unanimous response is invariably: Anything involving families. We obviously love rocking the adults but we leap at any opportunity to bring live music directly to children, particularly those who may never have witnessed a live concert performance before. We remember our first time watching music being made before our eyes and we strive to be the most interactive musical experience possible so kids can make the same connections we did: "Hey, I bet I can do that, too." There's something truly magical in a child’s surprise when he or she realizes they can not only keep the guitar pick or drumstick they were handed, but actually use it onstage to create a huge sound; or to watch a shy girl take the microphone, sing, and dance like no one’s watching (and eventually realize how much more fun it can be when everybody is watching!) ... Logged a 10k, getting ready for a marathon of a Saturday in my spiffy moisture-wicking promo shirt the HMF Events (Hartford Marathon Foundation) made for all the bands to wear, a new musical act every half mile along the 26.2-mile marathon route (and there are a LOT of outstanding artists on the roster). Come visit us at Bushnell Park for the victory bash by the beer tent. You'll need the carbs, from there we hit Boston, Massachusetts to party at Hennessy's at 10! Good luck to all the runners! ... KICK was conceived strictly for fun, as a side project for its members’ well-established original bands. But they quickly earned a reputation as “easily the top show band in New England…live, they actually look, perform, and sound better than a lot of the original artists” (Music News Express) and “the most professional modern rock cover band I’ve ever seen. Masterful.” (Hartford Advocate). By its second year, they had won numerous regional critics and readers’ poll awards. In national auditions, MTV Cover Wars called KICK “Perfect” and VH1’s Ultimate Cover Band Challenge concurred they are “an outstanding band.”

Today, KICK is widely regarded as one of the most talented, high-energy and diverse rockshows in North America. The band’s 2014 summer tour took them from Madison Square Garden (where they performed before two New York Rangers’ Stanley Cup Playoff games) to 4th of July on Block Island, RI to two-night stands at the Resorts Casino on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City, NJ; Lake George, NY; and Quincy Marketplace in Boston, MA. The tour wrapped with an unprecedented four-night residency at the legendary Flamingo Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip.

KICK’s professionalism and the diversity of their repertoire has enabled them to become a fixture at both of the two largest casinos in the world – Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, where they have performed in residence at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville for nearly seven years – as well as at numerous college festivals, corporate events, amusement parks, and private parties and weddings. They have even performed at arenas and stadiums including Gillette Stadium, Bushnell Memorial Auditorium, Yale Bowl, Toad’s Place, Riverfront Amphitheater, Fairfield Coliseum, Six Flags, and UConn’s Rentschler Stadium (where they performed before every Huskies football game for five seasons) while supporting acts as varied as international 80s pop icons Duran Duran and modern rock legends Staind (not to mention ska kings Reel Big Fish, grunge stars Filter, and a variety of other major label acts too numerous to mention).

From Lady Gaga to Metallica, the band guarantees their audience members will go home having heard at least one song they like. If not several dozen.

Perhaps most important, KICK has been civic-minded since its inception, performing at charity events for the Special Olympics, Relay for Life, We Are the Children, Dream Ride, American Cancer Society, Make a Wish Foundation, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, Newtown United, Nutmeg State Games, and the Brian A. Aselton Memorial Fund among several others. The group has become a bona fide family favorite at town park and municipal shows throughout the Northeast, and the band is a proud member of the National Association for Campus Activities, having performed at events for several of the world’s top colleges and institutions.

KICK is celebrating its 20th year with a major national tour sponsored by Coors Light, Ovation Guitars, Hype Energy Drink, and Splawn Amplification. For additional up-to-the-minute information about the band, visit the website, or “Kick Tunes” on Facebook, Twitter, and You Tube.
