2K15 XX Tour Taking Shape

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – How do you top two shows at Madison Square Garden, weekend doubleheaders on the Atlantic City Boardwalk and Boston’s Quincy Marketplace, and a four-night residency on the Las Vegas Strip? You go even bigger.

KICK plans to celebrate its upcoming milestone birthday with a North American Tour for the ages. Details are being hammered out now, but the band says that in response to feedback from friends and fans, the “XX Tour” (named for the band’s 20th anniversary next year) will feature shows ranging from drivable Northeastern roadtrips to multi-day junkets time zones away. Check back here for details.

KICK Takes Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Recent guests at the legendary Flamingo Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip were offered a roster of in-house entertainment options that included Olivia Newton John, Donny & Marie, and KICK. With all due respect to these legends (and arguably everyone else playing Vegas that week), KICK’s four-night residency at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville was most certainly the most raucous, bombastic, and ridiculously fun.

In addition to well-received performances viewed by thousands of visitors from around the world, the band’s visit included a photo session in El Dorado Canyon, hours of late-night blackjack, decadent consumption at some of the best restaurants on the planet, and afternoons sleeping it all off at the Flamingo’s adult pools, much with a group of 30-plus fans that flew out for the occasion.

KICK Takes Manhattan, To Perform at Madison Square Garden

NEW YORK – Want to see KICK perform live at Madison Square Garden before the New York Rangers kick off their 2014 Stanley Cup crusade against the Philadelphia Flyers? KICK takes Manhattan and plays New York City for the first time at The World’s Most Famous Arena at Sunday morning pre-game rallies from 9 am to noon before Game 2 on April 20. Former Whaler fans dearly welcome.

Atlantic City Boardwalk Shows Added

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – In preparation of their Las Vegas junket in October, KICK has scheduled a weekend of shows aimed at helping the band’s East Coast fans experience the next best thing: a weekend on the Jersey Shore in Atlantic City. KICK bids goodbye to summer with two huge performances at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in the Resorts Casino Friday and Saturday nights, September 19 and 20, located directly on the Boardwalk (in fact, the adjoining Landshark Bar and Grille is the only nightclub actually situated on the beach).

KICK Announces Las Vegas Residency, Summer Tour

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Sin City has always been synonymous with debauchery, indulgence, and premier nightlife and live entertainment, which is why KICK is beyond excited to bring all of the above and a whole bunch more to the Nevada desert this fall for a four-night residency on the Las Vegas strip.

The Flamingo Hotel was the casino that started it all. The room that Elvis made famous will soon play host to KICK as the band performs a four-night stand at the property’s Margaritaville Casino October 9 through 12.

“We’ve always liked to book shows at places we’d like to hang out at anyway,” says bassist Micke Mansfield. “But this is outright comical. For a showband like ours, the Vegas Strip is our Broadway or Carnegie Hall.”

The band is looking into offering special travel and VIP packages to anyone who would like to come along. Additional details will be released here in the months to come.

The Vegas shows will be the finale of a special extended Endless SummerTour, this year dubbed the No Sleep ‘Til Vegas Tour 2K14, which, in addition to the Nevada junket will take the band to such locations as Block Island and the Long Island Sound. A third leg of summer tour dates, including a second installment of last year’s hugely popular outdoor Kick With the Kids Summer Concert Series will be announced in the weeks to come. Check KICKband.com frequently for up-to-the-minute scheduling changes.

2K14 Tour Dates To Be Announced

HARTFORD, Conn. – As KICK approaches its 18th birthday, the band is assembling a show itinerary for 2014 that promises to be one of the band’s most diverse and extensive to date, featuring – par usual – extensive residencies at several of the finest entertainment venues in the Northeast. The first wave of dates will be released soon, including a run of casino and Boston dates. Check KICKband.com frequently in the days to come for updates and details.

KICK Joins Stellar Hug More Love More Festival Lineup

On Saturday May 11th 2013 the world lost a loving and caring human being named Grayson Minney in a fatal car accident. He was an inspiring musician, a son, a brother, an uncle, a soon to be husband and a great friend. Grayson loved the idea of love and you knew that whenever you were around him. Overnight, the Minney & Malek families lives were instantly changed forever. Leading up to this horrific tragedy, his family had already been struggling financially after Grayson’s mother Ava was seriously injured in a car accident. With her condition being the way it was, Fred had no choice but to take time off of work and take care of his wife. In doing so, the medical bills accumulated and the family fell on extremely hard times forcing them to become delinquent on their mortgage. Grayson, being well aware of his parents financial situation, decided that he was going to make it his mission to save the Minney homestead. After all, this was the same house that his father built with his own two hands, the same place that Grayson grew up in. Many of his friends knew what he had been doing for his father so we got together and decided we were going to continue his mission. After Grayson’s passing, his father began using the phrase “Hug more, Love more” in everyday conversation as well as the Eulogy that he wrote. It’s a simple thought but it reminds us to never take love for granted for everything you know can very well be taken away at anytime and without warning. This is how the Hug More Love More Music Festival became a reality. Our goal is to raise as much money as we can to save the Minney Homestead. This house is currently in foreclosure and set to be auctioned off this August of 2013. We can’t and we won’t let this happen, so please join us on July 20th starting at 11am at the Four Town Fairgrounds in Somers, CT for the first ever Hug More Love More Music Festival in memory of Grayson Minney. Please come out and support this great cause.

– Eric (Grayson’s friend and bandmate)

Grayson was a very good friend to many of us and we encourage you to come celebrate his life with us through music. The full, amazing band lineup can be found at www.hugmorelovemore.com, and includes Secondhand Serenade, Columbia Fields with special guests, Veronica Ballestrini, Kenny Mehler, Rane, Gone by Daylight, Ben Jarvis Band, Addison Station, Jim Wolf, Them, Beach Avenue, an Article 19 reunion, Forget Paris, and others. KICK goes on at 6 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased there for $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. The show is all ages, but beer, wine and other concessions will be available.

Endless SummerTour 2K13 Announced (Yes, the Biggest Ever. Again.)

HARTFORD – Yes, we’ve said this for the past 18 summers, and we continue to marvel that it can be said again and again in truth (and we have you, your support, and your love of live music to thank for that), but this year’s continuation of the Endless SummerTour is, once again, our biggest and busiest yet. It takes us to 1/10th of the United States over 48 shows (as of this writing), virtually every one of which, aside from residencies at the two largest casinos in the world, is either outdoors, on the water, in the sand, or all three. Here is where I would usually go into detail describing all the awesome town parks, fairs, colleges, killer beach bars, and new venues (e.g., Blu on the Waterfront and possibly a launch party at Jimmy Buffett’s brand new Margaritaville at the Resorts Casino in Atlantic City, NJ). But instead, I’ll just list them out because it makes me giggle with adolescent excitement to see how much darn fun lies ahead this summer. Please, please, make it a point to save a date or two, grab some friends, bring the family, and share a few hot summer nights with us. You are 110% why we do this.

K.I.C.K. Benefit Concert Updates

NEWTOWN, Conn. – The holiday season is typically a time for reflection and giving, few more so than this year’s, which was marked by some very high highs in response to some unfathomably low lows.

K.I.C.K. (The Kick Institute for Charity and Kindness) was founded just months after the band was, as a means of raising funds, awareness, and positive karma through entertainment, bringing good times and attention to charitable organizations and causes close to the band’s heart.

The holiday season began with KICK playing the wildly successful “We Are the Children” recruiting event, which culminated Christmas morning in one of the biggest We Are the Children Christmas Parties ever, at the XL Center in Hartford, Conn., where Gary Craig, morning radio personality of 96.5 WTIC-FM, hosted over 1,000 less-fortunate kids from throughout the state.

The seasonal cheer of a nation was marred by the Sandy Hook tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, and neither the band nor Craig wasted a moment looking for ways to help in any way possible. The band traveled to Newtown the Friday following the tragedy and hosted a Christmas event that morphed into an ad hoc fundraiser at All Stars in Manchester, Conn., for which the band, the venue, and their incredibly generous friends and fans donated several hundred dollars to We Are the Children to help build a playground in Newtown in the victims’ memory.

Just days later, the band was asked to join an all-star lineup assembled by Randy from The Zoo, hands down one of the best cover bands in the country, on a multi-band bill at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury, Conn. Just days after the January 5 event, over $11,000 has been raised for the Newtown United organization, which will ensure the funds go directly to the 26 families.

Alas, 2K13 has just begun. And one can never pay it too far forward. The band will be back for an encore performance at Maneeley’s in South Windsor on Friday, March 1, to perform at a Michael J. Fox Foundation fundraiser to fight Parkinson’s disease. Please contact Bruce Chamberlin at bruce.chamberlin@flotech.net for additional details and tickets.

KICK To Play “We Are the Children” Recruiting Event

HARTFORD, Conn. – It’s time for this year’s We Are The Children volunteer recruitment day, and this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever (and not simply because KICK will be performing).

The mandatory  We Are The Children volunteer recruitment day will take place on Sunday, December 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Maneeley’s Banquets & Catering in South Windsor, CT. KICK will be performing in the ballroom as volunteers arrive, sign up, and learn more about this fantastic organization. It is open to anyone age 18 an over who wishes to volunteer – and it is the only way to sign up to volunteer – in this year’s We Are The Children Christmas Party.

The band is profoundly honored to be asked to be a part of this phenomenal organization’s 2012 campaign. We Are The Children is an organization founded in 1985 by Gary Craig, morning radio personality of 96.5 WTIC-FM in Hartford, Connecticut. Gary Craig, along with a tremendous support committee including various corporations is committed to raising funds for abandoned, battered, disadvantaged, and needy children. To date, We Are The Children is a 100% volunteer organization with all goods and services donated by members of the local communities.

The organization has gained popularity and recognition through Christmas parties that have been held on Christmas day since 1985. The concept is to provide a holiday celebration for any needy child who has no place to spend the holiday. We Are The Children became a registered non-profit organization with 501 (c) 3 status as a result of the success of the first Christmas party, conceived just eight days prior to Christmas, 1985. The first party was attended by 350 children and their chaperones; $300,000 in goods and services were raised to provide a day for the children – a day that would otherwise have been only a dream.

We Are The Children has been supported by hundreds of corporations in Southern New England throughout the years. Countless numbers of private citizens, schools and community organizations have also given their time to We Are The Children. Since being incorporated in 1987, the We Are The Children organization has directly contributed to children needing transplants, short-term funding for women’s and children’s agencies, equipment for women’s shelters, various events for children and support for many other organizations and immediate crisis situations throughout Southern New England.

We Are The Children continues to support children and their families bringing the spirit of the holidays to Connecticut’s kids, one child at a time.

All volunteers must bring a valid ID, and be ready for a great time as we kick off this year’s We Are The Children season.

Maneeley’s Banquets & Catering is located at 65 Rye Street in South Windsor, CT.   For directions, maps and more, visit 965ticfm.com.
